"I just felt more comfortable there," LaFrance said. "They recruited me very strongly. That's the reason I chose them. I also think I could start my freshman year. I got to tour the facilities and I liked it a lot. It was pretty cool. The new stadium they have is nice. I like the way they designed it."
According to LaFrance, he met with head coach Dan McCarney on Saturday.
"He was very excited that I had chosen them," LaFrance said.
LaFrance said he also had offers from Arizona and Southern Miss. The 6-feet-3, 235-pounder had planned to visit Southern Miss next week.
"I don't know if I'm going now," LaFrance said. "I don't know if I should be going now since I committed."
In addition to North Texas, LaFrance also visited Florida and Mississippi State. He said programs such as Baylor and SMU were also considered though neither had offered.
As a junior, LaFrance recorded 111 tackles, two sacks, 10 tackles for loss and two interceptions.
