It was a big recruiting weekend for North Texas, as the Mean Green hosted prospects while having their football team banquet.

The weekend help North Texas secure several commitments, including a pledge from two-star defensive end Chris Knighton and two-star Houston North Forest athlete De'Andre Stewart.
"It was a really good visit for me," Stewart, who is 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds, said on his way back from Denton. "I committed. I didn't want to be too far from home, plus I had a really good time on the visit."
Stewart said North Texas recruited him to play safety, but he could also play receiver or quarterback. He was the signal caller for North Forest, who went to the first round of the Texas state playoffs this season.
Knighton is a 6-foot-2, 240-pound two-way lineman. He also visited Louisiana Tech on Jan. 9. He was recruited by North Texas to play defensive end.
