North Shores Mitchell thinking twice

HOUSTON - North Shore High School is full of talent and with the likes of the man-sized fullback/tight end Earl Mitchell on the roster, it's no surprise that the team is looking to continue their tradition of putting together another winning year.
Mitchell, a 6-foot-3, 251-pound three-star prospect had offers from Utah, UTEP, Oklahoma State, Indiana, and Utah offers before committing to Arizona in August. After liking the fact that he could play offense at that school where others were looking at him on defense, he made his pick and got the decision over with – is that changing now?

"I'm committed to Arizona and I would say I'm solid, but I'm also going to take a visit to Oklahoma State after the season possibly," Mitchell said. "I want to do this just to be sure. I also want to visit Arizona as well because I haven't been there yet."
What has always made Arizona the right place for him is that they were going away from the trend of other schools that were looking at him on the defensive line.
"I'm so used to playing offense after doing that for three years and everybody wanted me at defense," Mitchell said. "Arizona liked me at fullback and I didn't want to switch, so that was a big reason."
Mitchell along with Texas commit Chykie Brown is part of a North Shore team that will host Hastings High School this Friday night after winning a big victory in the first week.
However, this will have special meaning when hurricane refugees will be given free admittance to the game to possibly give some help with a good football game.
Mitchell is honored to have the privilege to play in front of a crowd full of survivors and those in need.
"This is a big deal because a lot of people can come out and show us some support, but we can support them and take their minds off things," Mitchell said. "At least that is what we hope. Now we have the chance to take this tradition and use it to help these people."
"Yes sir it's an honor. It really is."
