North Houston LBs getting attention
Since the departure of highly-coveted running back Michael Goodson to Texas A&M, Klein Collins High School has been in a Division I recruiting drought, until now.
Enter linebackers Malcolm Johnson and Jesse Beauchamp, who are receiving recruiting interest from several Division I schools.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Johnson is the headliner as the school's big man on campus. Johnson is a three-year starter in football, soccer and on the track team.
"He's just a complete athlete," defensive coordinator Scott Williams said. "He is a busy dude and handles all of his responsibilities very well. He's a fullback in soccer and runs the sprints for our track team. On the football field he's just as versatile."
Johnson played safety as a sophomore before moving down to linebacker last season, where he earned all-district honors.
"His ability to move in space is his strength," Williams said. "He returns kicks for us, and will probably play an offensive skill position for us this year. I know Texas is looking at him as a running back prospect. Iowa State and Houston are also recruiting him pretty hard."
Also at linebacker for the Tigers is Beauchamp, who has an unmatched motor in the north Houston area. The 6-foot, 200-pound punisher is a traditional run-stopper with his physical play.
"Jesse has great closing speed and he will strike you," Williams said. "He's a very intense kid that loves the weight room. He's a great leader for our team."
Coming on strong on the offensive side of the ball is a familiar name to the football community. Junior-to-be JaMichael Rozier is the son of Heisman Trophy winner Mike Rozier, who will start at running back next season.
"I think he has the 'it' factor," Williams said. "Mike has been on the sideline for a couple of games last year and it was neat for our kids."
