North Carolina DB makes up mind

Durham (N.C.) defensive back A.J. Davis has made up his mind and he's sticking in-state.
"He called North Carolina and committed today," said Gary Merrill, coach at Northern Durham.

"I guess news spreads in a hurry, but he called the coaches today and let them know."
Davis picked UNC over N.C. State and Tennessee - his other two finalists.
"He sat down last night and spent a lot of time talking with his father," Merrill said. "We honestly didn't expect him to make a decision until this weekend. But he came to me today and said that he was ready to commit to Carolina.
"He said he just felt like it was the best fit for him with football, academics and track. He had narrowed it down to basically N.C. State and Carolina yesterday, and we were still planning on having coaches come by tonight."
But things are different now.
"He said he's just ready to end it and get things over with," his coach said. "He made a responsible decision and thought through things on every angle."
