Scrappy to the Sooners? Norman to Norman?
The headlines would be fantastic if Stanley Norman - who goes by Scrappy - ends up at Oklahoma, and now he'll have his chance after being offered by the Big 12 powerhouse on Wednesday.
Co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Jay Norvell was at Gardena (Calif.) Serra and briefly talked to Norman, who said he landed the Oklahoma offer in an original way.
"They came to the school and I was just talking to the coach," Norman said. "He was talking to me about coming up there and he asked me for all my information.
"Then he asked me for my Twitter and then the next thing you know I look at my phone and we're standing right next to each other and he tweeted me that I had an offer from Oklahoma and we were standing right next to each other."
Norman, a 2015 four-star athlete who recently transferred to Serra from Culver City, has landed a bunch of major offers recently, but Oklahoma is definitely a major one that he will consider.
"It's straight," Norman said. "I like them. Oklahoma is Oklahoma. They just beat Alabama. They're straight. I like them. That's a big one for me. I just got Florida State and California. Recruiting has been busy because they don't have to go anywhere to find players."
So far, Norman has landed offers from Akron, Arizona State, Cal, Florida State, Marshall, Oklahoma, San Jose State, UCLA, USC, Utah, Washington and Washington State. Rivals.com rates him as the eighth-best athlete and the No. 84 recruit in the 2015 class.
