NorCal RB up to seven offers

The Golden State has several good running backs for the class of 2005. It looks like it could be one of the best groups in some time. If running back is on your school's wish list for this recruiting season there is a good chance your school will be checking out the talented runners on the west coast this spring.
One player who already has received big time interest is the highly coveted running back James Montgomery (5-10, 195, 4.4) from Rancho Cordova (Calif.) Cordova.

Montgomery already has seven written offers from a very impressive list of schools.
The most recent offer came in from UCLA just this past Saturday. Besides UCLA, Montgomery has offers from Washington, Washington State, Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon and Northwestern.
"UCLA and Washington have a slight lead but all schools are pretty even," Montgomery said. "I'm pretty much open."
"I think I'm going to camp at Washington and USC," Montgomery said. "I'm also going to try to make it to UCLA."
As a junior, Montgomery rushed for 1,915 yards on 215 carries for an average of 8.9 yards per carry and 35 touchdowns. He also caught four passes for 12o yards and scored two more touchdowns through the air.
Montgomery also played a little defense as a nickel back when needed. Make no mistake however, Montgomery's seven offers are because his running back ability.
The scouting report on Montgomery is he great vision and break away speed. He can cut on a dime and makes defenders miss.
Another intriguing fact about Montgomery is he started as a fullback his sophomore year and is an outstanding blocker. He was the leading blocker for a back that rushed for 2,300 plus yards.
One more thing to like about Montgomery is he is already academically qualified with a 3.0 GPA and 19 SAT.
Montgomery will be participating at the NIKE Camp to be held in Palo Alto in May.
