NorCal DL Up to Five Offers

A player we really liked at last year's NorCal Nike Camp was San Mateo (Calif.) Serra defensive lineman Will Powers. Powers was one of the top linemen in attendance that day and is one of the hottest prospects in the West region right now.
Powers, 6-4, 220 pounds clocked a 4.62 in the 40, a 4.23 in the shuttle and jumped 31 inches in the vertical at last summer's Nike Camp at Stanford and was dominant in the one on one drills as well. With his great burst off the edge and athleticism, Powers will remind some of current NorCal All-American and USC bound Jeff Schweiger. The big difference is Powers is not nearly as big and strong as Schweiger but has the same high motor and relentless pursuit skills.

Powers starred on both sides of the line last year earning All-Area and 2nd team All-State Underclass honors on the offensive line. Still his size and ability project much better as a defensive lineman and that's where he's being recruited to play.
On the recruiting front, Powers has scholarship offers from UCLA, Cal, Nebraska, Arizona and Arizona State and is also hearing from Stanford, Notre Dame, Michigan and USC.
"UCLA is my top school," Powers said. "I've liked them for awhile. I also like USC, Stanford, Nebraska and Notre Dame, those are my top five right now. I'm looking for a school with a strong combination of academics and athletics that is in an area where I'll feel comfortable."
Academically, Powers is carrying a 3.6 GPA and has scored a 1240 on the SAT. He'll attend the Nike Camp in Palo Alto in May but is unsure about the rest of his camp plans this summer.
