Noles, Vols target Florida RB/S

Melbourne (Fla.) standout Mike Hamilton doesn’t get as much publicity as some of his other Sunshine State peers at running back, but that could change with another big season on his part.
Hamilton (6-1, 210, 4.4) rushed for 1,610 yards and scored 24 touchdowns as a junior to earn second-team all-state honors. His raw physical tools make him an attractive prospect at both running back and safety, and he’s already drawn scholarship offers from Florida State and Tennessee.

“Those are two of my favorites right now,” he said of the Seminoles and Volunteers. “The three Florida schools are my top three, then Tennessee, Michigan and N.C. State. I want to go visit all of those last three to see how they stack up with the in-state schools.”
Is there a favorite among the “big three?”
“No, not really,” Hamilton said. “I like them all pretty equally right now. Maybe Florida State a little bit since they offered. I like their coaches.”
In addition to those schools, he’s also being recruited by Alabama, Auburn, Notre Dame, Oregon and a host of others.
Hamilton said he’s looking for a school with a winning tradition and great all-around facilities for both football and academics. He’s a 2.5 student who has scored a 17 on the ACT, so qualifying isn’t likely to be a problem.
“And I’d like the opportunity to play running back,” he added. “That’s my favorite spot.”
Some scouts think he’s got the ideal frame and athleticism to play safety, but all of the teams on his list of favorites have been open to him playing offense, according to Hamilton.
