O’Steen is a versatile player who has the ability to play all four defensive back positions on the collegiate level. He started at safety as a junior and is now playing cornerback for his senior season. O’Steen also starts as a wide receiver.
O’Steen is somewhat of a sleeper due to the fact that he was injured in the fourth game of his junior season and had to sit out the rest of the season.
O’Steen has a birddog’s nose for the football and is considered a tremendous hitter. He has 12 tackles, three fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one interception.
A great cover corner, O’Steen’s man has only caught one pass in three games so far his senior season. He’s physical and very aggressive.
If the name O’Steen sounds familiar to you, it because his father Duane O’Steen, Sr., was a standout defensive back for the Los Angeles Rams and the Oakland Raiders.
The great bloodlines do not stop with O’Steen’s dad. His uncle Burgess Owens also played in the league with the Oakland Raiders and the New York Jets.
A very thoughtful young man O’Steen has his priorities straight.
“A good athletic program is important to me,” O’Steen said. “But the most important thing is academics.”
“Football has always been important to me,” O’Steen said. “But being injured it made me realize just how important academics are.”
O’Steen is hearing from CSU, WSU, Miami of Florida and Hofstra.
Look for O’Steen’s stock to rise if he continues to play the way has so far his senior season.
