NoCal sleeper getting noticed

Berkeley, Calif., could have three or more prospects this season. One of them is fullback/defensive end Julian James (6-1, 230, 4.89). The word is just getting out on this Northern California two-way standout.
James was a first-team all-league performer after racking up 55 tackles, 11 sacks and one fumble recovery. His one fumble recovery, James returned it 55 yards for a touchdown.

As a fullback, James was used primarily as a blocker. He rushed for 125 yards on 13 carries and scored two touchdowns.
At the recent NIKE Camp, James benched 185 pounds, 16 times. He also ran a solid 4.37 shuttle and recorded a 25-inch vertical jump.
James is a noted hard worker who is planning on attending Cal’s full contact camp and with his high school team a camp at Oakland (Calif.) Skyline.
Though James doesn’t get a lot of carries on offense he has good vision as a runner and runs with power. He also can catch the football although under used as a receiver.
As a defensive end, James is very explosive off the ball and has outstanding field awareness. James always seems to be in the right place at the right time as a defender.
James thinks he will project as a fullback.
Washington, Cal, Nebraska, UNLV, Fresno State and Boise State have shown interest in James.
