NoCal RB picks up third

Running back/cornerback Adonis Smith (5-11, 185, 4.48) from San Mateo (Calif.) Serra has had a very busy spring taking in junior days. He also recently picked up his third offer.
"I just received another an offer from the San Diego State Aztecs," Smith said. "The offer was made by Dan Ferrigno."

"I am really excited about this offer," Smith said. "I don't know a lot about them right now, but I do know this is where NFL great Marshall Faulk went to school and set several NCAA records while there. Coach Ferrigno said they loved my film and will be coming down in a couple of weeks to see me at school during his recruiting visit."
"I attended UCLA's Junior Day and had a great time," Smith said. "I was able to see them practice and was given a tour of the campus. UCLA is a beautiful place.
"It was fun to see the other prospects and get a chance to talk with them about their recruiting experiences," Smith said. "This Junior Day was different than the ones I have gone on before, because there were other athletes from other sports.
"We viewed all of the sport facilities and ate in the cafeteria with other prospects," Smith said. At the end of the tour we got a chance to see the team's scrimmage. It was well organized and great to watch and see how the different schools that I have visited run their scrimmages, it was great.
"On April 18th I attended Cal Junior Day," Smith said. "It was also great, I had a chance to meet Coach Andy Ludwig, Coach Tosh Lupoi, and defensive coordinator Bob Gregory.
"Cal is also a great place," Smith said. "We had a chance to see the campus as well and look at the plans for the new Sports Facility Cal is building. It's going to be great.
"Afterwards I talked with Coach Ron Gould," Smith said. "Cal said they are very serious about recruiting me and wants me to come to their invitation only one day camp in June.
"The good thing about this whole recruiting process is that I am really meeting some real genuine nice people," Smith said. "I am continuing to receive interest from Oregon, Nebraska, Arizona State, Arizona and others and high interest from Northwestern."
Smith earned all-league honors while playing in a league that sent three of its running backs to Pac 10 with D-I scholies. He was also an all-area selection after rushing for 644 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 7.2 yards per carry. He also had 12 receptions out of the backfield for 104 yards and another score.
Smith's is also an outstanding special teams player. He returned six kicks for 125 yards and one touchdown. As a punt returner, Smith had 153 punt return yards for an average of 20.8 yards per return. He has been working hard in the weight room this offseason and is now maxing 280 pounds on the bench.
