NoCal QB coming on strong

Northern California is home for another quarterback garnering looks from several D-I schools in Austyn Carta-Samuels (6-1, 205, 4.65) from San Jose (Calif.) Bellarmine College Prep.
Though Carta-Samuels is getting recruiting attention from many schools across the USA, the schools he has most interest in at the current time are Cal, UCLA, Washington, Colorado, Purdue, Boston College, and Auburn.
As a junior, Carta-Samuels passed for approximately 1,400 yards, and 11 touchdowns against only three interceptions. He can also get the job done with his feet as he rushed for 455 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground.
Carta-Samuels is somewhat of a diamond in the rough, because he engineers a run dominated offense, but when called upon to throw the ball he delivers.
"It is rare that a player comes along that has the arm strength, running ability, leadership abilities, and knowledge of the game like Austyn does," Bellarmine coach Mike Janda said. "Austyn throws extremely well from the pocket as well as on the run. His ability to elude pass rushers while on the run was remarkable. He never becomes rattled and seems to make big plays when his team needs it most."
Carta-Samuels is coming off an outstanding SPARQ Combine performance that saw him get a 102 SPARQ rating and make the first-team all combine team.
The hard working Carta-Samuels has a very busy camp circuit scheduled at schools that.
"I'm already signed up for the NIKE Camp to be in Palo Alto in May," Carta-Samuels said. "I'm going to attend junior days at Cal and UCLA coming up in April. Then I'm planning on attending football camps at Cal, UCLA, Boston College and Auburn.
What is Carta-Samuels looking for in a college?
"First off a good coaching staff that can notice how I play," Carta-Samuels said. "I am looking for a coach who will have confidence in how I play no matter how tall I am.
"Of course academics will also be a high consideration because you always need something to fall back on if football doesn't work out."
