NoCal emerging OL has three offers

There is a sleeper offensive lineman from Northern California who has picked up three offers and he has a fourth offer pending. The player who picking up steam offensive tackle Matt McCarthy (6-6, 280, 5.3) from Sacramento (Calif.) Christian Brothers.
McCarthy has offers on the table from Portland State, Montana and Weber State. He could have a fourth pending from Sacramento State.

Boise State and Fresno State called McCarthy on September 1st the first day colleges can call recruits. He was invited and attended the Cal/Michigan State game last Saturday. UNLV has also invited him to games.
Other Pac 10 schools that are showing interest in McCarthy are Stanford, Oregon State, Washington and Washington State.
McCarthy earned first-team all-conference honors as a junior from his offensive tackle spot.
The scouting report on McCarthy is very athletic for a guy his size. He's very smart on and off the field. He takes all AP courses at a very tough academic school, he carries a 3.6 GPA and scored a qualifying 1910 SAT score on the first time he took the exam. To give you an indication of his competitive spirit, he's going to retake the SAT.
Wanting to improve his footwork, McCarthy worked out with Velocity Sports Performance.
What is McCarthy looking for in a college?
"I want to get a good education," McCarthy said. "I want to make sure the school is top notch in the major I want to study in.
"I'm leaning towards economics or criminal justice," McCarthy said. "I also want to play at a school with a good football program."
In the weight room, McCarthy's current bench press of 295 and has recorded a 24-inch vertical jump.
