NoCal behemoth dominates

Eric Howard (6-5, 300, 5.3) from El Cerrito, Calif., definitely has the size D-I schools like. He starts on both sides of the ball as an offensive tackle/defensive tackle. According to El Cerrito head coach George Austin, Howard has the ability to play on either side of the ball.
Howard was selected all-league for his skills on the gridiron and was his league’s champ in the shot put. He would have attended the NIKE Camp to be held at Stanford but he will be at a track meet on May 22nd.

One thing that everyone likes about Howard is he’s a very nimble guy on his feet for someone his size. The very athletic Howard also is the starting center on the basketball team.
It will be as a football player that Howard will get his college attention. When his senior season rolls around Howard will be a three-year starter on the defensive side of the ball and a two-year starter on offense.
“On defense our team was very stout,” Austin said. “Our opponents couldn’t run on us and Eric was one of the reasons why.”
On offense, Eric really moves people off the line of scrimmage,” Austin said. “He is also a very good pass blocker because of his outstanding feet. He’s a dominating on the offensive side of the ball.”
“Colleges have been watching him since his sophomore year,” Austin said. “This will be his year to really prove his ability to colleges.”
Northwestern called the school yesterday (May 6th) and are showing a lot of interest. Washington sends about three letters a week to the behemoth from El Cerrito.
Colorado, Oregon and USC have shown Howard recruiting attention.
