NoCal athlete brings the goods

The third prospect from Oakland (Calif.) Bishop O’Dowd who is getting D-I looks is running back/cornerback/free safety Jesse Brooks (6-0, 185, 4.55). Brooks was started on both sides of the ball as a junior and once again he will play both ways as a junior.
Brooks rushed for 455 yards on 56 carries and scored eight touchdowns while averaging 8.12 yards per carry. He also had 8 receptions and out of his eight receptions, he caught a very productive three touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, Brooks racked up 26 tackles, six passes broken up, one fumble recovery and one interception.
“As a running back Jesse has very good balance and vision,” Bishop O’Dowd head coach Paul Parenon said. “He is a tough young man who runs hard.”
“Jesse is a versatile running back,” Parenon said. “He catches the ball extremely well out of the backfield.”
“As a defensive back he has loose hips and great recovery speed,” Parenon said. “He’s not sprinter fast, but he has great feet and quickness.”
“Jesse is a hard worker and getting faster,” Parenon said. “He is running track this spring to improve his speed.”
Oregon State, Washington, Utah and Fresno State have been by Bishop O’Dowd expressing interest in Brooks.
