No worries for FSU with Ponder

When Colleyville (Texas) Heritage three-star quarterback Christian Ponder committed to Florida State back in July, he left little doubt that Tallahassee would be where he ended up. And that's still the case several months later.
"I'm not really hearing from any teams anymore," Ponder, who is 6-foot-2 and 202 pounds, said. "They've all pretty much backed off. Purdue and Stephen F. Austin called up in September, but I just talk to Florida State every week now."

Ponder said the decision to pick FSU was and still is a family one.
"My dad played there at Florida State and that was a big part in my decision," he said. "I've gone there a lot over the years, so I was real familiar with the campus. I just grew up an FSU fan and I love coach (Bobby) Bowden. I just feel comfortable there."
Ponder has lined up his one and only official visit to FSU for the weekend of December 9.
"Florida State will be my only visit," he said. "I won't be going anywhere else."
Ponder has had a good senior season on the field. He's developed into a true dual-threat this year – rushing for 782 yards and 10 scores and throwing for 1,764 yards and 16 touchdowns.
"Last week, I threw my first interception of the whole season, so that was kind of bad," Ponder said. "We play Denton Ryan this weekend. I think they're 5-2, like us. They have a pretty good, fast defense, but I think if we execute the way we're capable of doing we'll put up some big numbers on them."
