No visits on Kinnels calendar

Four-star Michigan safety commit Tyree Kinnel had planned to visit West Virginia this past Saturday, but ultimately did not end up taking the trip to Morgantown.
"I got offered by West Virginia in the spring," Kinnel said. "I talked to their coaches a little bit and they thought it was a good idea I go visit. One of my teammates, Robert Landers, is committed to West Virginia and he was going to the game Saturday as well as my coach.

"I was just looking if something were to go wrong at Michigan and the coaching staff was not there -- just see a couple other options, so I was going to go there and visit, but it ended up not happening."
Kinnel was one of Michigan's first commitments in the 2015 class, making the decision before his junior year. He also has been one of the more solid commitments in the wake of uncertainty in Ann Arbor over the future of head coach Brady Hoke and the stability of his commitment remains strong in the near term.
"As of now I don't have any other visits planned," Kinnel said. "I'm still committed and staying strong with my commitment."
Although Kinnel has not scheduled additional visits, other schools continue to contact him. He said Notre Dame, Michigan State, Kentucky and West Virginia are pushing the hardest to get him on campus.
"I always listen to what they've got to say out of respect," Kinnel said, "but I just tell them that I don't know for sure what's going to go on right now at Michigan, my commitment's pretty solid to them right now, but if something did go wrong you guys would be one of the first schools I'd contact."
Kinnel's last visit to Michigan was the weekend of Oct. 11 to see the Wolverines host Penn State. He is unlikely to attend any further games in Ann Arbor this fall unless his team makes an early and unexpected exit from the playoffs, but he does keep in regular contact with assistant coaches Curt Mallory and Mark Smith.
"We still talk and still have the same relationship, same conversations basically," Kinnel said. "They are coaching and doing what they've got to do. They told me they feel like their job is secure, so as of right now I am still committed to Michigan."
Conversations with his fellow Michigan commitments are also positive, according to Kinnel.
"I talk to them a little bit, not as much now that we are in-season and everybody's in school," Kinnel said. "The conversations I have had, people still want to go there and are still solid. Some have de-committed, a couple others are looking around, but I think they still want to be at Michigan."
Huber Heights Wayne finished the season with a 9-1 record and Kinnel has lined up at safety, running back, slot receiver and returned kicks for the Warriors. On the season he has tallied 60 tackles, five pass deflections and two interceptions including one he returned for a touchdown. He also has a punt return for a touchdown and a kick return for a touchdown.
Wayne is scheduled to host Cincinnati Elder is the first round of the Ohio State playoffs this Saturday.
"I feel like we are ready for the next stretch and I feel pretty good about the team," Kinnel said. "Coming off our first loss last week, I think we'll bounce back and come together as a group."
