No distractions for Long

Peyton Long from Dallas (Texas) Jesuit has been busy this summer working out with his teammates. The 6-foot-2 and 220-pound linebacker has been focused on one particular area of his game when it comes to getting ready for the upcoming season.
"The summer has been great," Long said. "We've all been working together and prepping for the upcoming season. I focused on my foot quickness personally."

Long is likely going to be looked at to play inside linebacker at the next level, but this fall he will be outside in one of the two defensive formations that Jesuit will run. Long says that the reason why he worked on his feet so hard this summer was because of his involvement in pass coverage.
"I will be playing SAM linebacker this fall. We run a 4-3 or a 4-2-5 and all of the linebackers are expected to be able to cover so I wanted to work on my feet this summer."
The summer was filled with team camps and workouts so it wasn't possible for Long to get out and do any individual camps or go to any schools on unofficial visits. Long wasn't willing to miss that time with his team this summer for his own benefit.
"I didn't take any trips this summer," Long said. "I spent the summer with my team going to team camps and my visits would've cut out that time with my team and I wasn't going to do that."
Long is holding onto some offers and the linebacker says that he knows of two schools that he will take official visits to. Long would like to get the college experience while he's on his official visits to get an understanding of how things are there as a student.
"I would have to say that I will take official visits to Navy and Montana State," Long said. "I would look forward to getting to see what a day as a student is like there at that school."
