No. 3 player in Nevada getting better

Henderson (Nevada) Green Valley safety Brett Johnson is ranked as the No. 3 player in Nevada by Rivals.com, and he’s worked hard at making his game even better.
“I’ve gotten better at my moving my feet around, quickness off the ball,” Johnson, who is 6-foot-1 ½ and 183 pounds, said.

“It’s going to help me out a lot. I might play some cornerback this year. I can play safety and cornerback, and that might help my case more and more with the college coaches.”
Speaking of colleges, Johnson has an offer from Nevada – where he camped at this summer. Johnson is also getting regular mail from UCAL and Oregon State and has had constant communication with those coaches via e-mail.
“A lot of them are going to wait and see what I do during the first few games,” Johnson said.
But with all that in mind, Johnson is pretty focused on his senior season.
“We’re going to be a lot better this year,” he said. “Coach (Greg) Murphy is still building on the foundation. My personal goal is to do what I did last year and help the team win more games.”
Johnson had 84 tackles and two interceptions as a junior.
