No. 3 kicker talks upcoming Vols, Orange trips

It's rare for kickers to get offered prior to auditioning in a camp setting, but that's exactly what happened to Seffner (Fla.) Armwood three-star kicker Sterling Hofrichter earlier this year when Syracuse pulled the trigger on an offer.
Since then plenty of other schools have shown interest in Hofrichter, including Tennessee, Miami and Auburn. The Vols were recently in Florida to get a closer look at the nation's No. 3 kicker.

"Tennessee came out earlier in the week to watch me kick," Hofrichter said. "They filmed me some and later they told me that I did really great and they're going to talk it over and get back to me."
After receiving the visit from the Vols, Hofrichter said he's planning on returning the favor early next month.
"I'm going up for their camp on June 6 to kick for them again," he said "They're looking for a punter and they told me they're going to scholarship a punter in this class because they took a really good kicker last year. I'm hoping I can be that guy."
As far as the Orange, they remain firmly in the mix and Hofrichter will be in New York later this week for an unofficial visit.
"They're the first to offer and they're at the very top right now because they believe in me," he said. "I'm going to go up there this week, on Thursday and Friday. I want to see the dome they play in and get a look at their academics, too. The chance to kick inside is pretty appealing to me as a kicker, too."
