No. 2 rated DE closing in on choice

Lufkin, Texas defensive end McKinner Dixon continues to have one school at the top of the list.
“I am real close to making a decision,” the 6-foot-3, 240-pound Dixon said. “I’m leaning toward Texas a lot. I want to take a couple of other visits so I can see the Texas campus and compare it to something else. LSU and Oklahoma will probably get visits, too. But Texas is at the top of the list right now.”

With three schools emerging at the top for the nation’s No. 2 rated defensive end, the post office still has yet to get a break.
“I don’t think anyone has slowed down on what they mail. Today I got media guides from Oklahoma, Kansas State, LSU and Texas Tech. Those things come every day.”
Dixon and his Lufkin teammates don’t open the season until Sept. 3.
“We scrimmage Humble on Saturday and we open the season next week. We’re prepared for the games. We open with Aldine. They always have a pretty good team. We’ll need to be ready or they’ll get us. But, I think we have prepared pretty good.”
