No. 1 prospect ready for Army Bowl test

SAN ANTONIO - Everyone wants to know where Dorial Green-Beckham is going to college, but the top-rated player by Rivals.com isn't giving away any hints.

Green-Beckham, a 6-foot-6, 220-pound wide receiver from Springfield (Mo.) Hillcrest, has a top five of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Alabama and Missouri, but said at registration for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Sunday that he's not going to talk much about recruiting this week.

"I'll just wait until I go back home and see where it goes from there but other than that, I'm not going to say anything new about those schools," Green-Beckham said. "I'm just going to wait until I get back home and think about it."

If Green-Beckham is not going to talk much about recruiting, the main focus turns to his attempt to prove he's the No. 1 prospect in the class - and that he'll talk about.

This week at the Army game could solidify his spot atop the rankings or - as has happened to players in the past - move him down the list in favor of someone else who performed well during the important all-star season.

The five-star has anticipated this moment for a while.

"It's something I looked forward to from Day One hearing about the U.S. Army All-American Game," Green-Beckham said. "Coming out here and being around this group of kids will mean a lot not just for me but for all of the kids that are around. I want to be the best player I can be and for them to represent where they came from.

"Everything I do from here on is going to be really important to just come out here and be a good player for my teammates and to be a good role model for all the kids that are watching and who will be at the games and practices. It's important for me to do something to impress everybody."

So far in his high school career, Green-Beckham has done nothing but dominate. In his senior season, he finished with 119 catches for 2,233 yards and 24 touchdowns. But this week at the Army game he will be tested like never before. He's looking forward to it.

"I handled it pretty well so far," Green-Beckham said. "I got myself this far so I handled it pretty well. I have had my family go through a whole lot and to have them behind me and to see the same things I'm seeing, I want to keep doing the same things I'm doing and be the best player I can be."
