Few players have as many or as strong ties to a certain school as Cesar Ruiz does to Michigan. Ruiz, the top rated center in the Rivals100, announced his commitment to the Wolverines on Monday, and has all the confidence in the world that he will succeed in Ann Arbor.

IN HIS OWN WORDS…

“It’s the right fit for me," Ruiz said. "I’ve always liked them going to back to when they offered me on my first visit. That’s just home for me.

“My brother Ron Johnson is there," he said. "Brad Hawkins is on his way there. I’m cool with Rashan Gary, Kareem Walker, Mike Dwumfour and all those guys. They did a really good job making me feel comfortable there. I’m not sure who I’ll be rooming with yet.

“I think the coaches will do a really good job developing me," said Ruiz. "Coach (Tim) Drevno has a really good history of developing offensive linemen. The way the offensive line dominated this year was really impressive."

On why so many Michigan targets are announcing their commitments so close to each other: “It’s actually all a coincidence that all of this is happening this month," he said. "All of us committing in the same two weeks is pretty crazy. Hopefully we all choose the same school. A lot of good things are going to happen with this class.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

One of Jim Harbaugh’s top priorities has been rebuilding Michigan’s offensive line. He may have missed on five-star Isaiah Wilson, who committed to Georgia on Friday, but this class is strong and Ruiz helps fill an important need. Ruiz will help lead what could be a dominant offensive line in the future.
