Rivals100 defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi has been thinking a lot about schools for his official visits. It looks like the Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes stand out, who has said Virginia Tech and Florida State are his top two, is done with unofficial visits for right now.
"I was going to do some visits but I need to wait until October so I can take my SATs," said the 6-foot-1, 299-pound Nnadi. "After I take my SATs I'll do my official visits. I want to visit Florida State, Penn State, Ohio State and maybe Virginia. I also might take an official to Virginia Tech even though I've been there so many times.
"Other than Virginia Tech and Florida State, I'm trying to look at Ohio State, Penn State because I've been trying to find out more about them since they offered," he said. "Those are basically the main four I'm looking at. I know it sounds weird but I'm also still looking at Virginia a little bit because I never saw everything there, like the academic part."
Lately, Hokie commits have been putting the full-court press on Nnadi.
"I've been hearing from a lot of Virginia Tech commits," Nnadi said. "Recently, it's been C.J. Reavis telling me to come down there because it's a great place. I've known about Virginia Tech since I was a kid because my dad went there and he's told me it's a good place and when I went there I knew what to expect. When I went to Blacksburg for that one-day camp, a lot of the commits were there and I got a good idea of what things would be like."
Nnadi's visit to Tallahassee could be a pivotal moment in his recruitment.
"I've never been to Florida State and I don't really know anyone down there," he said. "I have a really great relationship with the coaches at Florida State. My relationship with Coach Brewster and Coach Higgins are some of the main things that are drawing me to Florida State."
Nnadi was named to the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by Under Armour All-Challenge Team.
