NM standout set for busy summer

One of the top players in New Mexico next year will undoubtedly be Albuquerque (N.M.) La Cueva defensive lineman Brett Kennedy. The talented tackle prospect shows up very well on film and should be recruited at the high Div I level in our eyes.

Kennedy, 6-3, 265 pounds is a four year letter winner and will be a three year varsity starter next season. The athlete was actually moved up to the varsity his freshman season for the teams playoff run and started La Cueva's championship game at offensive guard.
As a sophomore, Kennedy started at defensive tackle for a defense that only allowed one touchdown all season. The team finished the year 13-0 for the second straight year and Kennedy was named 1st team all-district, all-metro and all-state after totaling 76 tackles and five sacks.
The lineman had another all-state season this past year although La Cueva's run of state titles ended when they finished the yeaer 10-3 and fell in the state semi-finals. Kennedy had 72 tackles, nine for loss with two sacks. On film, Kennedy is a high motor guy who is very good at getting off blocks and getting up the field. He plays fast but under control and you can tell has been very well coached.
The lineman has been one busy camper the past few years and has a busy schedule ahead of him as well.
"I've been to the Penn State camp the last three years," Kennedy said. "In the summer before my sophomore year, I camped with USC and New Mexico and camped with Texas Tech, UTEP and Arizona last summer. This summer I'll be going to camps at Penn State, Texas Tech, USC and Texas in addition to the Nike camp at A&M as well.
"Penn State is my favorite school right now, I've liked them ever since I was a kid. USC, Texas Tech, New Mexico and Texas
would be the other schools in my top five right now. I'm looking for a school with a strong Engineering program since that is what I'm planning on majoring in and the schools graduation rate is also important to me."
