NJs Lane makes his decision

It's been a busy day at Paterson (N.J.) Paterson Catholic as two of their star players have committed to different schools. One of them, 6-foot-4, 202-pound Al-Ghaffaar Lane decided to stay close to home.
"He committed to Rutgers today," Paterson Catholic coach Benjie Wimberly stated. "I think his decision came down to a few things. One was that he was very comfortable with the coaching staff and players. Another is that he likes the proximity they are to home, I think that played a part and then finally the fact that they are winning there right now."

Lane was particularly comfortable with Rutgers assistant Robert Jackson.
"Coach Jackson was very persistent and showed Al-Ghaffaar a lot of love and attention," he said. "He made him a priority and that was big in his decision. Now he's just relieved to get the decision out of the way so he can concentrate on having a good senior season."
How does Wimberly see Lane fitting in with the Scarlet Knights?
"He's a real good fit for what they do there," he said. "He's built well and has great athletic ability to be a combo rush end and linebacker. I know they are trying to build a speed defense like at Miami and they like those small guys that get after it and that's what Al-Ghaffaar does.
"I can say they are getting a guy that goes non-stop and has a tremendous motor. He's very active, aggressive and is a hyped up type of kid."
