NJs Harris picks the Big Ten

Paterson (N.J.) Paterson Catholic running back Malcolm Harris concluded his recruitment today by giving a verbal pledge to Purdue. The 5-foot-9, 168-pounder selected the Boilermakers over offers from Maryland, Minnesota, Rutgers and Pittsburgh.
"The bottom line for Malcolm was that he loved the offense they run at Purdue," Paterson Catholic coach Benjie Wimberly said. "He's very comfortable with the staff and players and on his visit, the campus and stadium had everything he wanted. He likes the talent he's going to play with there."

Just over a week ago, Harris made an official visit to Purdue. What sold the three-star prospect then?
"I think being at that game against Minnesota and getting the opportunity to fraternize with the players and coaches played a major part in him ending up there," he said. "I also think his recruiter Lou Anarumo was big. He was in on Malcolm early in the spring and was one of the first team's to offer and that really stood out to him."
The Boilermakers are planning to keep the New Jersey product at running back.
"I can tell you that Purdue is getting a ball of excitement out of him," Wimberly said. "He's very elusive and can cut on a dime and catch the ball. He also has the ability to run back punts and kickoffs and is just a very exciting kid to watch. I'd say he's our Warrick Dunn."
So far in three games this season, Harris has run for over 200 yards and four touchdowns. He also has returned one kickoff back for a touchdown.
