NJ quarterback holds his first offer

Junior quarterback Chris Johnson received his first offer back just before Thanksgiving last year. Rivals finally caught up with the Paterson (N.J.) John F. Kennedy star to find out who he received his scholarship from and what he thinks about it?
"Rutgers offered me at that time and they are still the only ones to offer," he said. "I am really excited about the offer. I'm very excited to see that they had a winning record last season and finally got to a bowl game. Then in recruiting they got some real good players so that's making things very interesting.

"A couple weeks ago I took a junior day there and it was real nice. They improved a lot of stuff and the facilities are very impressive. All the coaches were very nice and are very easy to talk to. Coach Schiano was great too not only as a coach, but he's a great guy that you can talk to about anything."
Besides the Scarlet Knights, Johnson has been receiving interest from Connecticut and Virginia. There are two schools the 6-foot-2, 203-pounder is hoping to hear from in the future.
"I really want to hear from West Virginia and Maryland, but I'm not sure they'll show interest since they both have some young quarterbacks," he said. "Currently my favorites are Connecticut and Rutgers. I like Connecticut because they have a real good coaching staff and their program is on the rise."
Johnson is looking for a few things out of his future home.
"I really want to go to a college that has a nursing program," he said. "I'll also be looking to stay on the East Coast probably. I'd like to stay relatively close to home."
Last season Johnson accounted for 2,240 yards, 23 total touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
"I think my best quality as a quarterback is my presence in the pocket," he said. "I know how to pick teams apart and make good decisions."
Johnson has plans to attend the Elite College Combine in May and the Rutgers summer camp.
