Hackensack (N.J.) athlete Danny Oquendo is one of the hottest prospects in the state of New Jersey. Oquendo, who plays both wide receiver and safety, has received his first two scholarship offers. Who has offered the talented playmaker?
"I just got offers from Rutgers and Maryland," said the 6-foot-3, 175-pound athlete who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds.
What other schools are showing interest in Oquendo?
"Virginia, Boston College, Michigan State, Michigan, Rutgers and Maryland are showing the heaviest interest. I am wide open now, but I would say that Virginia, Boston College, Rutgers, and Maryland are the schools that interest me the most."
Last season, Oquendo started at both wide receiver and safety. On offense, he finished the season with over 600 yards receiving and six touchdowns. On defense, Oquendo racked up over 60 tackles and had three interceptions. What position are most schools recruiting him to play?
"It is pretty much a tie. I don't really have a preference. Each position has positives. I feel my future is brighter at wide receiver but I love playing safety."
Oquendo currently has a 3.2 GPA and will take the SAT this month.
