Nixon working hard

Quarterback Mike Nixon of Phoenix Sunny Slope is playing the waiting game. He’s sending out videotape of his first few games as a senior and waiting to see what sort of response he gets from the different colleges.
He already has scholarship offers from Arizona, Cal, Arizona State, Colorado State and San Diego State. All of those offers came back in May.

Now he’s waiting to hear back from Notre Dame, UCLA, Oregon and Northwestern, teams that have been calling him once a week and who he recently sent senior film to.
Sending the film is part of Nixon’s overall strategy for recruiting.
“I’m sending out all these films,” Nixon explained. “Then, when I find out who all has offered and who hasn’t, I’ll start breaking down the teams from there. But before then, I’m just going to be taking care of things on the field. There’s no use in rushing the whole recruiting process.”
Consequently, the right-hander has yet to schedule any official visits, although he does have Sunny Slope off to a 5-0 start and the state’s No. 2 ranking in class 4A.
Nixon has passed for 1,085 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior. Showing maturity in the pocket, he’s only thrown two interceptions.
