Three-star athlete Jamie Nixon out of New Haven (Conn.) Hyde Leadership has already taken to official visits to Virginia and Rutgers. The 6-foot-1, 177-pounder is planning to take two more visits this month to Maryland on January 13th and Connecticut on January 20th. What does Nixon think about both schools?
"Maryland has been in the mix for a while and he's excited to head down there with Bruce Campbell," said Hyde head coach John Acquavita. "I think what interests him in Maryland is that they have been successful in recent years and the ACC is a fun conference to be in. It is also logistically an easy drive down there from here and coach Sollazzo has developed a great relationship with him.
"Connecticut is still in there because they are close and his brother Brandon goes there. Those are the big draws for the Huskies."
Does the No. 26 athlete in the country have a leader?
"Jamie is a real quiet guy and is hard to read, it's a guessing game," he said. "I know he's excited about all his options and I could really see him go anywhere. His brother is at Connecticut, he's got a friend that's probably going to either Maryland or Virginia, his best friend is at Penn State and Rutgers is a really nice option and they want him as a running back."
Acquavita believes Penn State may still be in the hunt as well.
"I haven't heard much about Penn State from James in a while, but they could possibly snag that January 27th visit if he plans to take one."
Nixon ran for 1,600 yards on the season as he was named New Haven Register first team all-state.
