Nixon has a good trip to Maryland

Three-star athlete Jamie Nixon out of New Haven (Conn.) Hyde Leadership joined teammate Bruce Campbell down to Maryland for an official visit last weekend. Campbell committed to the Terrapins, is the 6-foot-1, 177-pounder looking to follow suit with his friend?
"He went on the trip with Bruce and enjoyed himself, but he's told me that he plans to take his last visit to Connecticut before making a decision," said Hyde head coach John Acquavita. "James told me that he had a good time at Maryland and it was a nice visit, but that's about all he said."

Acquavita believes that Nixon could go anywhere, but one school stands out to him.
"Rutgers came up today and at first I thought they were far off, but now it's beginning to make sense," he said. "The coaches have been straight shooters with him and been honest. They've also told him exactly what they want him to do. They are one of the few schools looking at him for both sides of the ball."
By no means are the other schools out of it for the No. 2 player in New England though.
"I know Maryland is coming in for a visit tomorrow and his friend now goes there," he said. "His father I believe wants him to get a good degree and Virginia obviously is a big-time academic school. Although the problem with them is that they lost his recruiter to Temple. Then his brother is at Connecticut and that obviously carries some weight too."
Nixon is expected to take his final visit to Connecticut on January 20th and then Acquavita believes a decision will come fast.
"Once he gets done with that visit, I think he'll make a decision on Sunday night or Monday morning. I've taught them not to hold off on making a decision because all these schools are waiting."
