Nike Camp update on DL Alfred Jones

While all eyes were on Reserve (La.) East St. John quarterback Ryan Perrilloux at the recent Nike Camp at LSU, the No. 2 player on our board following the camp was talented defensive lineman Alfred Jones who had a 'monster' showing at the event.
Jones measured out at a chiseled 6-2.5, 236 pounds, clocked a 4.71 in the 40, jumped 33 inches in the vertical and did 19 reps on the bench. He was very impressive in the position and one on one drills and his confrontation with Collierville (Tenn.) offensive lineman Scott Eller was one of the highlites of the camp.

For some background, Eller had been killing everyone he went up against including some of the biggest names on the defensive line. Jones was doing the same and was 4-0 at the time he was about to step up for another one on one. Lead line coach Marty Spaulding asked Jones if he wanted to go up against a good player or just an average one.
"I want to go up against the best guy here," Jones said.
"OK, Eller, get over here," Spaulding responded. "Are you sure you want this guy Jones, he's a monster."
"No, I'm a monster, bring it on," Jones replied and then made a great outside-in move to fly by Eller and show he's definitely an elite level player.
"Right now I have offers from Mississippi, Miami, UCLA, Duke and Oklahoma State," Jones said. "My top schools are Miami, UCLA, Florida State and LSU. I'll take all my trips before deciding where I want to go and don't have any plans to commit early."
Academically, Jones is carrying a 2.7 GPA and scored a 17 on the ACT.
