WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Baltimore Nike Camp is Saturday and the roster is loaded with talent. The stacked positions include defensive back, defensive line and wide receiver, but there appears to be talent everywhere, including at linebacker where Alex Anzalone from Wyomissing (Pa.) Wyomissing Area will be looking to take the focus off his de-commitment from Ohio State and put it back to his play on the field.
Nike Baltimore: Players to watch
Alex Anzalone, Wyomissing (Pa.) Wyomissing Area
Anzalone has been in the news more regarding his de-commitment from Ohio State than anything on the field so I'm sure he'll be excited to compete and try to put the focus back on his play. We saw him at the U.S. Army Combine when he barely had any offers and now he's absolutely blown up.
Kenny Bigelow, Elkton (Md.) Eastern Christian Academy
Bigelow was a standout at last year's NIKE Camp at Rutgers and he was one of the more dominant players at the recent Rivals.com/VTO Sports Elite 100 in New Jersey. But he'll be going up against a few different linemen this time. Can he dominate and show he's a national top 10 prospect once again?
Tashawn Bower, Somerville (N.J.) Immaculata
The reason Bower is interesting is because his offer list rivals anyone else's in the country but his ranking and play in games doesn't quite match it. The last time we saw him in a camp setting was the Top Gun last July so we'll see how much he's improved since then.
Adam Breneman, Camp Hill (Pa.) Cedar Cliff
Will Breneman work out? He might only be able to show up and go through some drills and avoid one-on-ones because he's recovering from a shoulder injury. If he can only do drills, he won't be a top performer but we'll see if he does one-on-ones.
Andrew Brown, Chesapeake (Va.) Indian River (2014)
Brown has dominated every camp he's attended and always walks away with some award but with an absolutely loaded group of defensive linemen, can he do it again? It's doubtful too many players will stop him, but that could be the case for a few other defensive linemen as well.
Kendall Fuller, Olney (Md.) Good Counsel
Fuller is the nation's top cornerback, a national top five player and is actually improving his stock. He's thicker and stronger, and still has those amazing instincts. He was an absolute stud at the Rivals.com/VTO Sports Elite 100 in Virginia but this wide receiver group is much deeper and he will be challenged even more.
Derrick Green, Richmond (Va.) Hermitage
Green is a bowling ball of a running back and camp settings don't show his strengths. That being said, he was as good as we've seen him at the Rivals.com/VTO Sports Elite 100 in Virginia and caught the ball well after fighting it at previous camps. He will battle it out with some talented running backs for the top honors.
Da'Shawn Hand, Woodbridge (Va.) Woodbridge Area (2014)
Hand shared the defensive line MVP award with Brown at the Rivals.com/VTO Sports Elite 100 in Virginia and the two have very different styles. Hand is so athletic and such a rare athlete at his position that it wouldn't be a shock if he took home MVP honors, but he will have to battle Brown and a bunch of other top defensive linemen for the honor.
Taquan Mizzell, Virginia Beach (Va.) Bayside
Mizzell has such great feet and is so quick in space that it's almost unfair to see him at camps against linebackers. He will do his thing again we suspect, but there are a few talented linebackers who are very good at dropping in coverage we'd like to see him face.
Dorian O'Daniel, Olney (Md.) Good Counsel
O'Daniel was the only linebacker who could cover Mizzell at the Rivals.com/VTO Sports Elite 100 in Virginia and it's a matchup we'd love to see again. This is a deep group of running backs as well so O'Daniel will be challenged. We'll see who is better in his drops - O'Daniel or Anzalone.
Khaliel Rodgers, Elkton (Md.) Eastern Christian Academy
Rodgers hasn't been to a camp where he didn't come home with the offensive line MVP award and this shouldn't be the exception. While he won't go against Bigelow, his teammate, he will have to handle a ton of great defensive linemen and battles against Hand and Brown will be fun to watch.
Eli Woodard, Vorhees (N.J.) Eastern
Coming off an injury at the end of his junior year, we haven't seen Woodard at camps this spring so if he makes it we will be looking forward to seeing him compete with Fuller and go against some very talented wide receivers.
