Nichols waiting for more offers

Cornerback Ricky Nichols out of Norfolk (Va.) Maury holds over a half dozen offers. Does the 5-foot-10, 169-pounder have any favorites at this time?
"I've got offers from Norfolk State, Akron, Delaware, Old Dominion, Richmond, Temple, James Madison and Liberty," he said. "Right now I would say I give the advantage to JMU because I know a couple people who play up there. I also like ODU since they are right around the corner."

A variety of major college programs are at least considering offering Nichols.
"North Carolina State, ECU, Connecticut, North Carolina and Boston College have been in touch," he said. "They basically told me it depends on how I play in our first games. If I do well I should receive bigger interest.
"If those schools offer, that would change my recruiting a lot. I think the first ACC school that does I'd give a verbal to and go check it out. I'm waiting on a high D-I offer."
What does the two-star prospect want in a college?
"I'm looking for a school that is talented on defense, gets to the ball and I'm looking for a great coaching staff," he said. "I want somewhere I fit in and will give me the whole package."
In the meantime, Nichols is working hard in preparation for the season opener on August 31st against Phoebus.
"Practice has been hot, but everybody is trying to get better," he said. "I'm playing a bunch of different positions, running back, wide receiver, cornerback and safety.
"I've seen an improvement. I feel much quicker and more on top of my assignments. I think this year I'll be in better position to make plays."
