Nice weekend for Womble

Sierra Vista (Ariz.) Buena running back Jamal Womble has clearly established himself as one of the top backs in the West region. He spent some quality time in the Midwest this past weekend to take his stock national and that's just what has happened.
Womble, 5-11, 220 pounds could be the premier power back in the West this year. He has great size and strength and is a down hill runner all the way.

He was holding scholarship offers from five schools coming in to this weekend consisting of Arizona State, Nebraska, Boston College,
Oregon State and Purdue.
With the NIKE Camp taking place at Purdue this weekend and the Boilermakers holding their Junior Day on Friday, the day before the camp, Womble decided to head to the Midwest and kill two birds with one stone.
"Purdue is one of my top schools and I really wanted to check them out," Womble said. "This weekend was perfect for me because I was able to come see the school up close at Junior Day and then do the NIKE Camp the next day.
"I'm hearing from a lot of schools out West right now but I want to be recruited by schools outside the West as well so that's why I decided to attend this NIKE Camp. I knew there would be a lot of Big 10 and other schools in the region out here so I wanted to come out and compete.
"I had a great time and this camp was a lot of fun for me. I thought I did really well, I was hoping to take home MVP honors but it didn't happen for me. I still had a great time and overall, it was a great experience."
Womble may not have won MVP at his position but he still impressed everyone in attendance and was regarded by most as one of the top three backs in the camp. At least two colleges were definitely taking some good notes.
"I found out after the camp that Indiana and Illinois both offered," Womble said. "That's exciting for me and what I was hoping would happen."
As for the Junior Day experience at Purdue?
"I really enjoyed it and learned a lot about the school. They have a great campus and I really like the facilities and set up there. Purdue is high on my list and they definitely moved up after this weekend.
"I'm not close to making a decision though. I want to take all five of my trips before I do anything. I know Purdue pretty well so I don't think I'll visit here but I'm still trying to figure out where my five will be.
"The only school I know for sure I'm going to visit is Louisville. I don't have a date set with them but I already talked to them and I'm going to visit there for sure. I'm going to take an unofficial visit to Arizona State in the next week or so and meet with the coaches.
"Coach Cozzetto has been trying to get me to come up and check out the school for awhile now and I'm going to do that real soon here. After that, I'm just going to play out the process and see what happens."
