Newton battles back

Columbus (Ind.) North offensive lineman Curtis Newton put together two outstanding seasons in a row. However after leading the way as his team rushed for over 2000 yards his junior year, Newton sustained a serious knee injury wrestling in November.
The 6-foot-3 and 295-pound guard tore both his ACL and MCL on the mat and had surgery in March.

"I'm doing real good," Newton said. "I'm three weeks ahead of schedule. But I won't be able to do any football camps this summer."
Despite the injury Newton is drawing interest from college football recruiters.
"I probably like Illinois, Louisville, Toledo, Northern Illinois, and Purdue," Newton said. "I went to a junior day at Purdue. It was O.K.
"I've been to Illinois and Louisville. I went to a junior day at Louisville and a spring practice at Illinois."
Newton has seen some recruiters make it to his school.
"Louisville, Miami of Ohio, and Illinois have been by my school," Newton said. "I don't have any favorites really."
