Newsome Still Waiting
Chesapeake (Va.) Deep Creek safety/linebacker Donte Newsome doesn’t have any offers yet, but he’s close.
“I’m going to Virginia Tech on Dec. 14 and then I’ll probably go to Virginia or North Carolina,” said the 6-foot, 200-pounder who is also a running back. “I think Tech is close to offering and the others might be too.”

Newsome also said he’s getting interest from Tennessee, Maryland and Pitt.
“Virginia Tech is my favorite,” he said. “If they offered, it would be tempting. They want me on defense while the other teams aren’t sure.”
Newsome and teammates Darry Tapp and Josh Hyman all favor Virginia Tech. Newsome rushed for 1,072 yards and 12 touchdowns.
