News hard to take for Pittman

Latroy Pittman hadn't heard the news on Wednesday afternoon that Florida coach Urban Meyer resigned. When the 2012 wide receiver and Florida pledge from Citra (Fla.) North Marion finally got the word he said he was stunned.
"I just can't believe it," Pittman said. "I'm shocked. I just have to think about things, sit down with my family and see what they say about it.

"I didn't see it coming. It was like somebody just slapped me in the face. I don't want to get emotional about things but it just hurts me."
Pittman, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect, committed to Florida in mid-August. He currently has offers from Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame and South Florida. Other programs are sure to get involved.
What's most frustrating is that Pittman was just starting to strike up a good relationship with Meyer and now his presumed coach at Florida won't be there any longer.
"We were just getting our relationship going," Pittman said. "I felt like he was a good guy and he's the face of Florida. When you think about Florida you think of Urban Meyer."
If there is a silver lining for Pittman it's that he is just finishing up his junior season and has ample time to figure out whether Florida is the best spot for him. He now plans to talk things over with his family and see this story unfold even more in the next few days and weeks.
"I'm going to sit back and see what happens with it, who's going to be the next head coach and see what coaching staff comes in and then see what happens from there," Pittman said.
"I get a better deal out of it because I get to see what they're going to do."
