Newman holds offers, takes a visit

Haymarket (Va.) Battlefield linebacker Nick Newman remains an under the radar prospect. The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder holds a pair of offers now, but has many other teams continuing to monitor him.
"Over the summer I got offers from New Hampshire and Temple," he said. "I like Temple a lot. I know the coaches are good people and I could see myself going there. I'd definitely pick Temple over New Hampshire because of the high level of play and getting to the next level is easier. It's a good school too."

Meanwhile, others are watching Newman.
"Right now, Penn State, Virginia and Maryland are still in contact," he said. "They all want my film at the beginning of the year."
Newman visited one of those schools this past weekend.
"I went to Maryland on Saturday for their home opener," he said. "That was really cool. I got to talk to the coaches and had lunch with them. I got to go on the field. They told me they are planning to come see a game of mine this fall."
Newman and Battlefield are 1-1 on the season after a 10-0 loss to Hylton this past weekend. He discussed his play to date.
"I played fine," he said. "I still have a lot of stuff to work on, but I'm sure by the end of the season I'll have stuff straight," he said. "I'm playing both sides of the ball the whole game, so it's kind of tough, but I'm doing well."
