New York wideout commits

One of the top wideouts in the Northeast and certainly in the state of New York has committed to a Big 10 power.
"I committed to Penn State about a week ago," said 6-foot-4, 205-pound wideout Mark Rubin from Buffalo (N.Y.) Amherst Central. "PSU was always my top choice and I was hoping to earn an offer at camp. They told me I needed to get quicker and I did."

Rubin, who ran in the 4.6-second range last summer, ran a 4.46-second 40-yard dash at Syracuse and another sub 4.5 at Penn State. He also ran very well at Boston College's camp. He earned offers from all three schools.
"I entered the camps with an offer from Buffalo and a lot to prove," he said. "I think I showed how hard I have been working. I knew I needed to show the schools I was a true wideout."
Penn State has talked to Rubin about playing wideout at 220 pounds on his 6-foot-4 frame. Rubin can also play many other positions.
"I will probably play wideout, running back and quarterback this season," he said. "On defense I'll play safety, cornerback and outside linebacker."
Rubin is solid in his decision to attend Penn State.
"In a big way," he said. "It's a dream come true and meeting Joe Paterno was a thrill. He's a great person. They were the first school to recruit me."
As a junior, Rubin caught 49 passes for 605 yards and six scores.
