New York OT picks up another offer

While prospects from the 2006 class signed their letters of intent on Wednesday, 2007 offensive tackle John Elliott picked up a major offer. Who did the East Meadow, N.Y. lineman receive the offer from and what does he think about it?
"I got an offer from Michigan on Wednesday," he said. "It's great to have an offer from such a wonderful school. I'm really excited to know that a school like that has an interest in me, but right now I'm still keeping my options open and I'm not planning to make a decision anytime soon."

The Wolverines are one of many schools that have offered the 6-foot-4, 282-pounder along with Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Syracuse, Rutgers, North Carolina and Temple.
"I didn't really grow up a fan of college football that much when I was younger," he said. "I'm not sure who I favor at all and as I said before I'm keeping everything open."
With Elliott remaining so wide open, what is he looking for out of a school?
"I really want a school that balances academics and football very well," he said. "I don't want to make any rash decisions about location yet because there may be someplace that is far away I like.
"Location could be a factor though as I'm sure my parents would like me to stay closer to home, but they are open to anything. Besides that, I'm going to be looking at the campus life and then of course I want to go somewhere I can play."
The 2007 Rivals100 prospect doesn't plan to hit anymore combines this spring.
"I plan to go to some camps this summer, but I'm done with combines," he said. "I feel I'm a good player that doesn't like to talk about myself. I go out there and prove I'm a hard worker on and off the field."
