New suitor changes things for Burch

Dodge City (Kan.) Community College four-star defensive tackle Steve Burch was on his way out the door to an official visit this weekend. For the four-star defensive tackle that is 6-foot-2 and 275 pounds, it was a visit that developed unexpectedly, but he is glad it did.
"I'm walking out the door to head to K-State right now," Burch said. "K-State offered me yesterday kind of out of the blue. I'm glad they did. I'm kind of high on Kansas State now. I'll probably have my answer this Tuesday after I get back from K-State, but it's looking pretty good for them.

"I like K-State and it's a good program. I'm going to weigh my options and see if it's the best place for me."
Burch has visited Toledo and Cincinnati, and earlier in the recruiting process he had heavy interest from Nebraska, Oklahoma, Houston and Kansas before those schools addressed their needs with other junior college defensive linemen.
"Toledo is still in the same bracket with K-State," Burch said. "But I'm high on K-State."
Although Dodge City didn't have a great year, Burch himself turned in a stellar campaign that saw him rack up some very impressive stats in a very tough conference.
"I led the conference in sacks this year with 11," he said earlier in the year in a previous report.
"I had 55 total tackles, 17 tackles-for-loss and five forced fumbles, too. It's hard to believe with that kind of production that I didn't even make first-team all-conference, but I didn't.
"It's probably because we only finished 3-5 because we had so many injuries hold us back. We had as much talent as any team in the conference, but injuries can just kill you in this game and that's what happened to us."
