West Monroe (La.) defensive lineman Luther Davis has picked up recent scholarship offers from Michigan, Florida and Tennessee.
The Gators, Vols and Wolverines are among the top schools he is interested in, along with LSU and others.
The Florida offer took him by surprise.
"They were telling me that they don't recruit Louisiana very often," he said. "It's Florida and I've never been to the beach down there."
Chuck Heater is recruiting Davis for the Gators.
The 6-foot-3, 254-pounder has respect for the Michigan program and the Wolverines offer also surprised him.
"I was surprised to get the offer from Michigan," Davis said. "They are a great program. I mean, it's Michigan."
Erik Campbell is recruiting Davis for the Wolverines.
Tennessee, which is looking at Davis at defensive tackle, was a school that he grew up pulling for.
"I've always sort of been a Tennessee fan," Davis said. "I have always admired the way that Phillip Fulmer coached.
"And you can't beat the stadium."
LSU also remains strong, along with Florida State.
"I talk to (LSU assistant coach) Stacy Searels every day," he said. "LSU is still in it strong with me."
Davis had 88 tackles and eight sacks for his high school team last season.
