Darion Green-Warren knew a lot of people would be watching closely earlier this season when his Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei team played Las Vegas Bishop Gorman.

So getting a pick six was probably a good idea.

Shortly after his performance in Mater Dei's win, UCLA became the latest offer for the 2020 cornerback and it’s really no surprise because the Bruins have been involved with him for a while.

“UCLA has been watching me for a long time,” Green-Warren said. “After they saw my pick against Bishop Gorman they invited me down to the game and coach (Demetrice Martin) offered me a scholarship.

“UCLA has always been showing love since I’ve been in the seventh grade. I have a great relationship with them, with coach (Martin). I love the program. It was the interception against Bishop Gorman. I knew a lot of eyes were going to be on that game so I tried to come out and make plays. That’s what happened.”

So far, the Mater Dei cornerback has landed offers from Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma, UCLA and Utah.

The Sooners could become an interesting player in Green-Warren’s recruitment since he’s originally from Edmond, Okla., and returning to his home state will be a consideration.

“I grew up in Oklahoma for a long time in my life so I’ve been an Oklahoma fan all my life,” Green-Warren said. “I was born and raised there. Right now, I don’t know where I plan on going but that would be a good thing for sure.”

As for other interest, the 2020 cornerback said Texas A&M, Louisville and Houston have been reaching out more often.
