New Ohio State offer has four-star interested

Since early in his junior season, Dallas (Texas) Skyline linebacker Anthony Wallace has been one of the most highly recruited juniors in the nation. With a host of offers from around the country, Wallace has had his virtual pick of future destinations. But just a few days before the first game of his senior season, Wallace landed another offer that managed to catch his attention, this one from Ohio State.

"It was kind of a surprise," Wallace said on Tuesday. "You always hear about Ohio State. They hadn't really shown me any interest but then they offered me so I'm very interested in them. I'm going to set up an official visit."

Skyline is not stranger to major national programs coming through its doors. It is a program that annually sends dozens of recruits to the next level, many of whom sign with major national programs. Even with all of that talent to choose from, Ohio State is a new visitor to the Dallas program.

"It's kind of big," Wallace said of the offer. "It opens up the door for some young guys too. Their recruiting us now so that's a big thing."

Asked who is on top now that he has landed a new offer, Wallace mentioned three schools that stand out.

"It's Miami, Oklahoma and Ohio State," he said.

Wallace's newfound interest in Ohio State stems primarily from its tradition. He also sees some appeal to playing in the Big Ten.

"It's pretty much the tradition and especially the linebacker tradition," he said. "[In the Big Ten] everybody runs pro style offenses so it's pretty much downhill for a linebacker and I like it."

Along with his top three, Wallace also lists Arkansas and Oregon as schools that he has a serious interest in. He hopes to take all five of his official visits before he makes a decision.

Before that though, Wallace has a season to worry about that features some major national matchups. This weekend the season kicks off in Daytona Beach, Fla. with a matchup against Florida Power Belle Glades (Fla.) Glades Central.

"I think we're going to be ready," he said of the game. "It's going to be a big test for us but I think we're going to be ready. All eyes are on you so when you come back you're either going to be praised or talked about so it's a big deal too."

Skyline also has a game in the Herbstreit Classic that pits the Dallas power against Florida power St. Thomas Aquinas.
