New name emerges from Orlando

This year’s crop of offensive and defensive lineman is one of the deepest ever. Even with an already long list of names the list of Division I caliber big men continue to grow. The newest name on the list is Orlando (Fla.) Olympia defensive end Brendan Deska. Deska has already picked up an impressive list of early scholarship offers and more could be on the way.
“So far I have offers from Wake Forest, Boston College, Stanford, East Carolina, Central Florida, Mississippi State, Duke and Northwestern,” Deska said. “All of the offers are in writing except for Stanford and Duke. They verbally offered me and they told me that my written offer would come soon.”
Deska stands at 6-foot-4, 230 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.8 seconds. He has a 325-pound bench press and 375-pound squat. He also has a 33 inch vertical jump.
“Right now my top three schools would be Stanford, Wake Forest and Boston College,” Deska said. “Notre Dame is in there too. They have been recruiting me hard, but they have not offered. They called me and told me to come to their camp this summer and I am going to go.”
During the spring months Deska was busy attending college campuses, especially in the Tar Heel State.
“I visited Duke, Wake Forest, North Carolina and North Carolina State during the spring. I really enjoyed all of those visits. All of those campuses are in really pretty area’s. This summer I am going to camp at Northwestern, Notre Dame and Boston College. I am also going to take an unofficial visit to Cal.”
Deska admits growing up a fan of the Florida Gators and he even attended their spring game, but did not list them among his favorites.
“I am looking for a school with good facilities and academics. I think the most important thing is the overall feel of the school and how I get along with the coaching staff and the players.”
An excellent academic student, Deska boasts a 4.0 GPA and has already made an impressive 1160 on the SAT.
