New Louisville LB target likes the Cardinals

THE LATEST...

Early Thursday morning, Matthew Flint's day got off to a great start. Before he could even get to school, a new offer arrived and it came from Louisville. The 6-foot, 205 pound athletic linebacker out of Gurley (Ala.) Madison County has already visited Louisville a couple of times, so the Cardinals have his attention now that he has the offer.

IN HIS OWN WORDS...

"I was just waking up when I got the offer from Louisville," said Flint. "Coach [L.D.] Scott (defensive line) is the coach that offered me and the best way to wake up in the morning is to a new offer.

"Louisville has been showing interest in me since my 10th grade year and I have already been up there a couple of times. I was there for their game against Wake Forest last year when then trailed, then they came back and blew Wake Forest out. Then I went back this year for a Junior Day.

"It is a crazy atmosphere up there and I love the dorms for the players; those are the best that I have seen. The fans their are great too. I had my recruiting badge on and everyone was just showing me a lot of love.

"I don't have any plans for visits anywhere right now, but I would love to get back up there this summer. Louisville is definitely in my top five. I do not really have a list right now, but I would definitely throw them in there now that they have offered.

"Louisville loves my speed and my coverage ability. I sent them the film of me from the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp and they couldn't say no to offering me."

RIVALS REACTION...

Auburn is an in-state school and it is perceived as the frontrunner by many. When asked about that in this interview, Flint said he could not name a No. 1 school. The Tigers would be tough to beat though if they stay in pursuit of Flint. It is obvious he has interest in the Cardinals. He has tripped up there twice, he stays in contact with their coaches and he even sent the film to them hoping for the offer. Flint loves the vibe at Louisville and the coaches now have a chance to build on their relationship with him. A decision is not likely any time soon.
