New interest intrigues Shepherd

More programs have been showing interest in X'avier Shepherd and so the Lakewood, Calif., wide receiver is not yet prepared to make his commitment.
"I've been getting a lot of talk from a lot of big-named schools like Oregon, BYU and Miami so I'm hoping they will offer," Shepherd said.

"It's great. A lot of people have been telling me to stay humble and keep working and there is more to come and that's what I plan on doing.
"I'll never take a day off. I keep talking to the coaches letting them know I'm still interested. I'm just trying to take it easy and trying to get a little more exposure."
So far, Shepherd has been offered by Arizona, Colorado, Fresno State, Oregon State, UCLA and Utah and others continue to show interest.
Over the next few months, the Lakewood standout said he wants to take some visits - namely to Oregon State, Arizona and Utah - and then he could be ready to make his decision before his senior season.
But if new offers come in - and Shepherd has been playing well this off-season with the 1925 All-Stars - there's no telling how busy his recruitment can get. Things could get pushed back if the process gets busier.
"I was planning on taking at least four of my five visits and then try to narrow it down," Shepherd said. "I'll probably end up committing after my visits.
"I was thinking about some trips during the summer and then I'll probably make a decision before the season.
"I'm just trying to make sure I can adapt to the place I'm going to. As of now there are no favorites but I have an idea where I want to visit and I'll probably have a favorite after those visits."
